How to keep your kids safe from the Covid-19

So school is back in session, but there’s so much anxiety and worry as our kids return to school due to the deadly non-relenting covid-19 virus and its cousin, the new Delta variant called (SARS-CoV-2) which spreads 2X faster than its predecessor. Just When we thought it was all over, this new virus reared its ugly head, and to add to that is the Influenza virus season in the US as well! But do not be afraid, as none of these will ever overcome you by the grace of God.

The truth is that virtual or remote learning during the last shutdown was a huge academic learning loss for students globally. Unfortunately, since most schools were caught unawares, they were not prepared for the switch to remote learning, which greatly affected the students.

While some of these schools are beginning to offer the virtual option to Parents again, it’s not certain they are well equipped and ready for it yet again. In addition, some Parents already withdrew their kids for fear of contracting the virus (check out this post), but For those of us that still want to keep our students in school, I’m going to be sharing with you our daily routine, and I pray this helps you as much as it does for us.

Pray and annoint

Every morning before you send your children to school, Pray for God’s protection and anoint them. The bibe says, “you will decree a thing, and it shall be established for you so that light will shine on your ways” (Job 22:28). Decree good health over them and pray that the Lord will raise a standard against every virus, flu, or disease that may want to afflict them.

Cover them with the blood of Jesus and surround them with the host of angels. To anoint them, buy a bottle of Olive oil or any oil of your choice, bless and pray over the oil, put a little on your fingertips, and place it on their forward whilst praying.

Here are some bible passages you can use to pray. Personalize this prayer by putting the name of your child wherever necessary.

“Keep me as the apple of the eye, Hide me under the shadow of thy wings”.
Psalm 17:8 KJV

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD”.
Isaiah 54:17 KJV

“The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him”.
Nahum 1:7 KJV

“Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word”.
Psalm 119:114 KJV

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”.
Romans 8:28 KJV

“But the Lord is faithful. He will give you strength and protect you from the Evil One”.
2 Thessalonians 3:3 ERV

“The Lord is my shepherd. I will always have everything I need. He gives me green pastures to lie in. He leads me by calm pools of water. He restores my strength. He leads me on right paths to show that he is good. Even if I walk through a valley as dark as the grave, I will not be afraid of any danger, because you are with me. Your rod and staff comfort me. You prepared a meal for me in front of my enemies. You welcomed me as an honored guest. My cup is full and spilling over. Your goodness and mercy will be with me all my life, and I will live in the Lord’s house a long, long time”.
Psalms 23:1‭-‬6 ERV

“Be strong and be brave. Don’t be afraid of those people because the Lord your God is with you. He will not fail you or leave you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 ERV

“The name of the Lord is like a strong tower. Those who do what is right can run to him for protection”.
Proverbs 18:10 ERV

“The Lord will protect you from every danger. He will protect your soul”.
Psalms 121:7 ERV

“The Lord says, “I will teach you and guide you in the way you should live. I will watch over you and be your guide”.
Psalms 32:8 ERV

“But you, Lord, protect me. You bring me honor; you give me hope”.
Psalms 3:3 ERV

“I can lie down to rest and know that I will wake up, because the Lord covers and protects me. So I will not be afraid of my enemies, even if thousands of them surround me”.
Psalms 3:5‭-‬6 ERV

“When you have troubles, I am with you. When you cross rivers, you will not be hurt. When you walk through fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not hurt you”.
Isaiah 43:2 ERV

There are so many others in the bible. When you exhaust this list, you can play a game with your kids to see who can find the other bible passages about God’s promises of protection to us in the bible. Please remember to reward the winner, thanks in advance.

Multivamins are a must.

Multivitamins should be a part of your children’s diet now if they weren’t before. Not just any multivitamins but a perfect one. Take your time to read the product description and composition to see if it fits what you are looking for. I particularly love and recommend this organic multivitamin we have been using for over a year now. However, do not let this replace the proper and balanced diet they need every day. Instead, let it be an addition to a carefully thought out and well-prepared meal. Meal planning ahead of the week helps you achieve this instead of just throwing together what you see available in the fridge or your pantry.

Handsanitizer is key.

I know hand sanitizers are already a part of our daily lifestyle and the children inclusive. However, I was hoping you could take the hand sanitizer game a notch higher by ordering the scented ones for your kids. Not only will they remember to use it, but they will also be thrilled to share it with their friends because who doesn’t like to smell good, especially if it comes with protection? I do! We use this scented anti-bacterial hand sanitizer, and they are so amazing! It has 71% alcohol and is very handy. Trust me; they will love it and remember to use it.

Facemask is necesary.

Another necessity is the facemask. We love our reusable facemask, but some parents prefer disposable ones. Whichever ones you opt for, please ensure they are breathable and comfortable. Facemask can be uncomfortable, especially around the ears, but there are products created to ease such pain.

Health talk is inevitable

It is important to have daily health talks with your children. Start by educating them on how to be safe out there and then turn it into rewardable quiz time. Remember, children learn better through repetition, so don’t be tired of having these health talks. It really doesn’t take that long too.

  • Use your hand sanitizer as often as you touch surfaces, friends, and things other than yours.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water thoroughly for 20 seconds or as long as it takes to sing the “ABC” or “Happy Birthday” song. Rinse and dry your hands.
  • Please keep your hands to yourself as much as possible and encourage your friends to do the same.
  • Do not touch, share or take what does not belong to you. Let me know if you need any materials you may be missing.
  • Do not stand too close when talking or playing with your friends. leave some distance between you.
  • No hugging, high fives, or shaking of hands for a little while. Hopefully sooner than we expect.
  • No sharing of food, snacks, or utensils for lunch. Ask your teacher for assistance if you need to.
  • Leave your face covering on at all times until you get back home. It is better to be safe than to be sorry.

Early wash is important

Oh yes! My girls take a wash as soon as they get back from school instead of waiting till they are set to go to bed. There’s no need to carry all those accumulated germs around the house till later. Afterwhich they change into their pajamas, eat dinner, and do their homeschool or homework as the case may be. Here’s a shower spray you can use for their bath. Spray once some minutes before wash time. It works with the steam in the was room to create some magical and relaxing spa-infused bath time.

Bedtime routine addition

Since I enjoy sleeping with my diffuser and favorite essential oil – Eucalyptus oil, I decided to try it for the kid’s room. I cannot even begin to tell you the wonders this does for clearing up the nostril passage (if there’s anything like that, lol). The girl loves this night routine, and I’m very positive this ritual helps our family. Click on the link to shop our choice.

Must have

Pray again and again

Did I say pray before? Yes! Please pray with them again before they sleep. Prayers can never be too much. Remember the old Sunday school song?

Prayer is the key

prayer is the key

prayer is the master key

Jesus started with prayers

and ended with prayers

prayer is the master key”.

Good old memories. Do you know the song? If not, just read through the words and let them sink in for a minute. “Pray without ceasing.” Don’t stop praying with them, as you are also indirectly teaching them how to pray.

What safety measures do you take? Please share in the comment section. I’ll love to hear from you.

Wishing you and your adorable safety always.

  1. This was an awesome read Bola. Thanks for sharing these very useful tips and scriptures as our children return to school. Coincidentally, I taught my son the Sunday school song- “prayer is the key” and he loves singing it at bed time, lol. Great job! Keep it up.
